Auzion helicopters powered by USC students' vision

Two years on and the creative input from a team of Advertising Campaign students is still having influence.

In late 2009 over 60 USC Communication students from the Arts and Social Sciences Faculty took part in a real-life advertising pitch to company clients at the Innovation Centre. The pitches were intended to help IC client companies with practical ideas to revamp their brand in the areas of website design, presentation folder layout, corporate identity and promotional material.

One of those companies that were presented with a campaign was Auzion, who specialise in sustainable solutions.  Keeping in theme with the type of company, the students pitched a concept to Auzion which was the suggestion of having customer boxes to send out to potential clients.

The boxes were intended to be a fun way for the company to get noticed and incorporated items such as a kids colouring box, information brochures about Auzion and a more creative idea of solar powered helicopters. The helicopters are designed so that when they meet the sun the propellers spin rapidly.

Levi Leckenby, Software Developer at Auzion said: “The customer boxes, in particular the helicopters, have been a great success with our clients. They’ve really helped us get noticed because they are so fun and fresh. Customers love them, and they pay attention to them because they are innovative and different.”
