Coast entrepreneur shows how to spot business opportunities
14-Jun-2011Spotting the difference between just another business idea and a profitable business opportunity can be tricky. Coast serial entrepreneur Soenke Weiss will share his secret to taking an idea and turning it into a growing business at the next University of the Sunshine Coast’s Innovation Centre Enterprise Tuesday on 21 June.
This high-level business networking forum will focus on the theme “Adapt or Die: How to spot business opportunities” presented by Soenke Weiss, Founder & CEO of Optii Solutions – hotel management solutions servicing worldwide hotel chains including The Hyatt Group, Sheraton and Marriott.
Mr Weiss will speak on the role of research, testing feasibility, documenting and protecting your idea and knowing your market to spot opportunities that will work.
Innovation Centre CEO Colin Graham said the monthly forums focused on fostering the growth of knowledge-based local businesses in areas such as information technology, creative industries, clean technology and health.
“Operating from a base at the Innovation Centre, Optii have proven that you can grow an internationally successful business from a regional location,” Mr Graham said.
“Optii moved to the Innovation Centre from Brisbane in 2010 and now employ three staff locally, as well overseas in the Netherlands, Macau and Singapore”
Mr Graham said the Enterprise Tuesday forums also raised the profiles of successful local businesses whose chief markets could be interstate or overseas.
The monthly forum brings together local entrepreneurs, SME owner-managers, USC staff and students to inspire entrepreneurship and encourage diversification of the Sunshine Coast economy.
Tickets are $33 inc. GST, University students interested in business or entrepreneurship also are welcome to attend the forums at no cost, to build their knowledge and connections.
