Future-Plus supports growth with USC student talent
11-Aug-2011Future-Plus, specialists in environmental management in the fields of water, waste, soil and ecology for private, commercial and government clients, is one of the innovative cleantech companies located at the Innovation Centre.
Directors and USC Environmental Science graduates Paul Wood and Elisa Baynes said their location on the doorstep of the USC campus has allowed their business to tap into student talent.
“Over the last two years we have engaged 5 students through work experience in a variety of roles from assisting with business efficiency audits through to exposure on large scale oil and gas projects” Mr Wood said.
“Access to USC talent has been key to our company’s growth and has provided the students with practical hands-on experience to prepare them for their careers”.
USC Environmental Science graduate Troy Warry and third year Environmental Science student Alana Kirchhoff are currently working with the Future-Plus team conducting environmental site auditing and risk management, environmental monitoring and reporting on projects such as a new $20mill Qld State School in North Brisbane, former landfill sites around the Sunshine Coast and various major infrastructure projects throughout South East Qld.
Future-Plus Environmental allows students the opportunity to work as an extension to their university degree program, offering a real ‘head-start’ in the workforce.
“As the business grows we aim to provide full-time graduate positions with exposure to real world projects and employ students with a proven track record within the business” Mr Wood said.
