Two USC students awarded scholarship places at Clean Futures

Bernard Smalberger and Bill Vaile gained two Clean Futures Conference Student Award places valued at $245 each, winning the scholarship places through their strong applications and obvious passion for clean technology solutions.
Clean Futures Conference 2011, which explored cleantech global trends and discussed cleantech business solutions, proved to be very valuable to the students who gained a higher understanding of the cleantech industry.
Bernard, who is currently undertaking a Bachelor of Science majoring in Ecology, said that attending the event greatly expanded his knowledge of sustainability and environmental management.
“It also was really beneficial in learning the current level of clean technologies and its potential for the future.” The two students were able to gain practical insights from a range of speakers, including Andrew Petersen, CEO of Sustainable Business Australia and Maya Stuart-Fox, Federal Department of Climate Change and Energy Efficiency.
Bill who is currently undertaking a degree in Environmental Science said he found it really beneficial in expanding his industry knowledge. “It was great to network with the local cleantech industry members, and also hear from the experts in my area of interest.”
