I have an idea but have not put it to paper

You have been thinking about an idea for a few months? You think it’s great! So why not write it down and see how it reads. Use your creativity to document your ideas, free form. Review them and refine your thoughts so you can explain your idea and its application in two to three sentences. You may need to re-write your idea numerous time until you get clarity in your own head before you discuss with third parties.

Define the market your service or product will serve and if possible estimate the market size in your initial geographic area. Once you have defined the market, try to be more niche and create a profile of your target customer. More focussed means better results. If you decide your product suits every market and everyone is a potential customer, you have not defined your niche. Who are likely to be the early adopters for your product?  What product are you trying to replace? What would motivate people to change?
